Board

Board Games!
Due to a couple of recent conversations, I've been thinking about which board games have come out in the last few years that may have a chance of joining the ranks of games like monopoly, risk, sorry, scrabble, etc.

So far my list is:
Apples to Apples
Cranium
Catch phrase

It just seems like so many board game companies make board games that are entirely too complicated and take half an hour to even get the basic premise of the game. Simplicity rules when it comes to board game design.

Happy Holidays!

Sorry I've been sort of absent lately. I'm trying to take some time away from the computer. Still haven't made it in the direction of reading, but I have spent time with wonderful people lately.

I'm safely home, fully moved out of St Louis (though possibly going back January 25 for Studio STL trivia night).

Posting the playlist of the mix I made and am giving out. It makes me happy.

So.

Its funny how people's voices sound completely different in their native language than in languages they learned later in life.

I haven't written a double spaced paper in forever.

I hate goodbyes.

Parenting

Being in St Louis, and working with a few people who have middle school age children, and with my interest in how technology is changing society, I was really interested in this response by danah boyd. If you've got time, read up on it.

It's kind of scary how different "my year" is from "my sisters year" in terms of technology usage. And the kids 4 years younger than her are even slightly more terrifying.

Middle school sucked. You dealt with it and moved on. I'm mildly terrified of what it will be like by the time I have kids.

Etsy. I blame my sister for this one, and my current obsession.
Everyone should watch the "Pigeon" episode of "Pushing Daisies".

Dinosaurs!

Yesterday was a good day. Picnics were involved (and Candy Cane oreo things from Trader Joes... oh man). + Vivaldi's four seasons and StudioSTL poetry. + vegetarian diners . + watching newsies. + sheer awesomeness. Funny when Sundays are more eventful than Saturdays. Friday I blew off some potential plans to play trivial pursuit. And that was my weekend.

Onecoldhand is adorable.
