Conversations

Conversations lately:
Things like - why people manage to stay in touch with the people they stay in touch with. And how sometimes it's kind of surprising. Or how its changed over the last 5 years, sometimes pretty drastically.

Everyone should watch this, it is only one minute long.

I've been buying myself house warming presents, like the book All the Tea in Chicago.
Next on the list: bamboo.

Credit cards are confusing and oh so adult.
Last night I saw Elsinore play at the Elbo Room. I've now been there two nights in a row. Teehee. At any rate, it was great to see Elsinore - great way to kick off living in Chicago, especially since Ryan Groff's show at the Canopy Club in Urbana was one of the best events to close out 5 years of college (along with Lynn O'Brien's show at Jennifer North shortly thereafter). Maybe this isn't such a big step. Or maybe it is, but maybe it's not such a big deal. We'll see what I think when I start work on Tuesday. And then when I start traveling.

So.

Wow. I just saw a Public Service Announcement about Cyber Bullying. Interesting how society changes and the things that need to be PSAs.

I move June 1. I have to have everything packed up May 31. THAT IS REALLY SOON. In case you didn't know.

Graduating is weird. I'm excited about my job, so thats at least a good start, something to look forward to rather than just absolute fear of the future. Here's to hoping I get to visit with some old friends before I have to leave.

Little things

I love the little experiences that wrap things up.
The mini potluck last night. Guiness Floats. Lunch with Brett this afternoon. Christie stopping by with my tent. Coffee with Rachael.

And then the little things that catch me off guard and make this all real... like cards from last Christmas and secret santas from ASB. Not exactly the best time for it all to hit, but it had to happen at some point, right? And saying goodbye to the people I've spent the most time with in the last 5 years...

But then again, its say "au revoir" and not goodbye. Until the next time we see each other...

Yay!

So, I have an apartment in Chicago. This is very exciting and makes everything significantly more real. Like, having to move and set up utilities.

Response from one of the guys at Accenture when I mentioned I'd put his number on my lease application for housing:

Sure thing - I'll make sure I mention your determination in learning the bagpipes, those awesome three day raveup you throw, your two pack a day habit, and your pet ocelot :-)

Graduation (aka the post that never got posted...doh)

The image of Willard Broom running down the street, covering the YMCA logo on his shirt, past people on every corner, chasing after a David Beckham poster.

Climbing into an elevator with two carts, two dump and run boxes, a printer, some foam mattress pads, and 6 people. Needless to say, it was hysterical when the doors opened on a floor we were not trying to get off at. Good time with dump and run.

Dancing to Mhondoro at Iron post for ages

Seeing a name of one of my friends in my newsfeed on facebook, going "who IS that?" and realizing another friend got married and changed their name.

Oh good. Rain all day for graduation. Great.

Studying

1. I like engineering paper. I don't think I'll miss it though.
2. I think I have studied more productively today than I have all semester. Shows habits can be broken, I guess.
3. It is mildly disturbing to hear "Bad Touch" played in the middle of the day at a coffee shop. Whatevs.
4. I miss swing dancing. And Le Picolo, and the French version of swing. Yeah. And maybe even Desperados.
5. Education is a funny thing.
